Thailand is often referred to as a golden land, not because there is precious metal buried underground but because the country gives off a certain lustre, be it the fertile rice fields of the central plains, white sandy beaches or the warm hospitality of its citizenry.

Thailand's cool season runs from November until the end of February. With its low humidity, relatively low temperatures and clear skies, the cool season is the best time to visit, though regular days of high 20s and low 30s might leave you wondering just who came up with the term ‘cool'. It is also the peak tourist season, so expect lots of new friends at the more popular spots like the islands and major towns.
First introductions are made in Bangkok, a modern behemoth of screaming traffic, gleaming shopping centres and international sensibilities interwoven with devout Buddhism. Chiang Mai, the country's bohemian centre, is where the unique and precise elements of Thai culture become a classroom, for cooking courses and language lessons; while climbing into the mountain ranges around Mae Hong Son you'll find stupa-studded peaks and villages of post-Stone Age cultures. Sliding down the coastal tail are the evergreen limestone islands of Ko Tao and Kho Phi Phi Don, filled with tall palms angling over pearlescent sand. Thailand's beaches are stunning, hedonistic and mythic among residents of northern latitudes.
People come here as miners: first perhaps for the uniquely Western concept of R&R. And while they toast themselves to a bronze hue on the sandy beaches, they find in the daily rhythm of Thailand a tranquillity that isn't confined to vacation time. The northeast is a region better suited for homestays and teaching gigs than quick souvenir snapshots: here, you can dive deep into the Thai psyche, emerging with a tolerance for searingly spicy food and a mastery of this strange tonal language. Welcome to a life-altering experience disguised as a holiday.
Culture
Mainland Thai culture is heavily influenced by Buddhism. However, unlike the Buddhist countries of East Asia, Thailand's Buddhists follow the Therevada school, which is arguably closer to its Indian roots and places a heavier emphasis on monasticism. Thai temples known as wats, resplendent with gold and easily identifiable with their ornate, multicolored, pointy roofs are ubiquitous and becoming an orange-robed monk for a short period, typically the three-month rainy season, is a common rite of passage for young Thai boys and men.
The tourism infrastructure is well developed in Southeast Asia and particularly Thailand, however this doesn't mean that you have to fight the crowds to snap a picture and walk away. Thailand is a magical place where you can just as easily get off the beaten trail and find special places where you will be welcomed with a smile.
Thailand has become a huge holiday destination for Australians and Europeans as well as budget travelers looking to have some cheap fun in the islands. Bangkok offers some of the world's best and lowest-priced dental work along with excellent shopping and the crazy buzz of a large Asian city.

Finding Unusual Vacation Destinations
On occasions people call our offices having previously only travelled to very normal and un-adventurous destinations. As the UK Director of Operations for One World Tours here's my suggestion for a few places you may consider for your next holiday or vacation.
1. Egypt - Egypt is a great destination to go to if you are looking for your first very different holiday or vacation. The main places to look to vist are without a doubt, Cairo, Aswan, Abu Simbel and Luxor. All these places not only have amazing historical sites, but they all off great places to eat and both exciting and relaxing things to do.
And if you want to combine your adventure holiday with a bit if traditional rest and relaxation, then you can also add a few days and one of a number of resorts along the Red Sea Coast, also known as the Red Sea Riviera
2. Jordan - Jordan actually borders Egypt so this is a great country to either visit in its own right or to double up with an Egypt tour. Another great advantage to Jordan is it's a relatively small country and all the major sites follow a north to south (or the other way around) route. Jordans capital city is well worth a few days alone and by the time you add in Petra and the Dead sea, then a holiday of a lifetime awaits you.
3. China - China really just has to be seen to be believed. It has everything and is a country of total extremes. At any one time all the seasons are available, so instead of having to visit at different times of year to see the different faces of mother nature. You can go any time and just visit different areas and see them all in one trip.
Places to definitely include in your visit are Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Guilin and if you have time a Yangtze River Cruise is well worth the time (about 3 days).
4. Hong Kong - Hong Kong may be small, but what it lacks in size in more than makes up for in passion and excitement. Hong Kong has a skyline that's unmistakable and a feel that's like no where else. The other great thing about this place is that it's a perfect gateway into China, so you can definitely consider combining these two unique destinations. 3 or 4 days in Hong Kong is just about perfect and while there make sure you take in Victoria Peak, Aberdeen, Stanley Market, a ride on the Star Ferry plus Lantau and Lamma Islands and for the shoppers amongst you - make 100% sure to visit the Temple Street Night Market.
5. Thailand - Thailand is a Mecca for shoppers and sun worshipers alike. It also has wonderful sites to see, incredibly friendly locals and also is very easy on the wallet. Many of our clients take in Hong Kong, China and Thailand, as it's relatively close by plane and again won't cost you an arm and a leg. Bangkok alone is worth a good few days as there's lots to see and one hidden gem is Tiger Temple. Not for the faint hearted, but if you want a once in lifetime adventure, in this place you can go in with live tigers, there not chained so (technically) you take your live in your hands !

A Beach Vacation: the Destinations are Endless
Copyright (c) 2007 Thomas Husnik
A beach vacation is possible at any time of the year. Given the way seasons change around the world, there's always a beach somewhere that's full of sand, crystal clear waters, and warm sunshine. The only decisions to be made are where to go, what to do, and where to stay.
Given how popular the beach vacation is, it's no surprise that the choice of accommodations is as varied as the colors in a setting-sun horizon. From luxury beach resorts to private huts on the shore, you'll have your pick. Budget can help with some decisions, but for most destinations, there are enough options to accommodate your preference, no matter how much you have to spend.
As for what to do, a beach vacation is naturally the perfect opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Recreation ideas include surfing in Waikiki, golfing in Wailea, scuba diving in Fiji, sailing in the Caribbean, or bird-watching in Australia. For those who would prefer to relax, there's always somewhere quiet to do so. A beach vacation is a way to get away from the noise, crowds, and distractions of daily life. From tropical gardens to tidal pools to kayaking to the center of the sea, visiting the beach is definitely a "right" step towards paradise.
Deciding where to go will depend somewhat on when you plan your vacation, as well as how much you have to spend. Do you have enough to get all the way to Australia? Or will a trip to Mexico leave you with more spending cash? Planning your trip is part of the fun though, as you explore the many destinations around the world ' all perfect for a beach vacation. From Kauai, Hawaii, to Jamaica to Thailand to the remote Out Islands of the Bahamas, each offers the visitor something unique and memorable.
The purpose of your beach vacation will also help pinpoint where to go. For a weekend getaway for instance, you'll likely want to stay closer to home, to cut down on travel time and leave more for relaxation, recreation, sightseeing, and fun. For a family vacation, there are certain destinations that cater to families, such as Maui and Molokai, Hawaii; Palm Beach, Florida; and San Diego, California. For the romantic beach vacation, choose from secluded villages, spa resorts, and peaceful beach rentals right on the sand.
Finally, there's the destination wedding, where a beach vacation is the honeymoon. For many couples, there's nothing more romantic than a beach or island wedding, with the sun setting behind them as they exchange I do's. What's more, after the ceremony, there's no place to rush off to for a honeymoon as it's right there. Guests of the wedding are also totally set to enjoy a beach vacation of their own.
Popular destinations for beach weddings include the Hawaiian islands of Kauai, Maui, Oahu, and the Big Island; Jamaica; each of the Caribbean Islands; Mexico; and Fiji. In truth however, if you're determined, you can have a dream wedding with a beach setting most anywhere. All you need is the beach and as said, the destinations are endless!

What are the best tourism destinations to visit in september-october? How about Thailand?
I wanna go with my girlfriend on a trip/vacation between september 9th and october 12th this year (I'm from Israel). I was thinking about Thailand but I know that is not the ideal time to visit there (monsoons and stuff). For this trip Europe and USA are out of the question (been there already).
Which destinations are good for this time of the year? And what do you think about the current idea of thailand?
