Would you take this vacation if you were me? I have a lot of bills and no savings?

It's for next year summer 2009, one week in Thailand. I really want to go but right now I'm worried about the cost. Of course the good thing is that I have a year to get the money together and I can pay in installments. The trip is $2,500 for everything (except my spending money). Would you use the money for bills or would you take this vacation if you were me? I love travel, too and I only live once. What would you choose?

(I just spent the last 6 months digging myself out of credit card debt)
Well, it will probably be 10-15 years before I am completely debt free because I have a high balance on my student loans. I don't want to wait until I am in my 40s to do these things. How do I even know if I'll live that long?

I have cleared away my car loan and credit card debts at this point by taking on a part time job. I'm about to start chipping away at the student loans and try to build my savings, too.
That's what I'm talking about Jayd213- saving and living for now!!! Thanks for answering.

If I can take a month vacation anywhere in the world, where should I go?

I'm a broke college kid, so Europe is kind of hard with the US$ so low. I've been to Thailand and loved it. I enjoy hot weather more than cold. I want a place where there will be many young travelers and a good nightlife. I want to go to a place that isn't too touristy; somewhere I can take in some culture. Where should I go?

Is Cambodia safe to take a child for vacation?

I want to take my 8 year old son to Cambodia (and Thailand) for a 2 week vacation, but my ex-wife is saying it will be too traumatic for him (poverty, etc.). I have been to Cambodia many times and think it will be fine. Is there any info about this subject I can send to her to make her feel like it will be OK?

How long does a train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai take?

Or how long does a train (overnight?) take from Chiang Mai down to the southern tip of Thailand? I'm trying to plan a week vacation in Thailand, and I want to save money and not fly around if the trains are okay.

Where in Thailand to take my 70 yr old father?

Was wondering if you could offer me some advice.

I looking for any suggestions as to where would be a safe and nice place to take my 70 yr old father on vacation. I am a 35
yr old SWM from the USA. I was in Thailand (Pattaya) for the first time in March of 2005. It was the best vacation of my life. The
people were friendly and smiling. The food was excellent with a wide selection. Things were relatively cheap. The bars and stripclubs
were fun. Hotels weren't bad.

Here is the deal. Me and my 70 yr old father are overdue for a vacation. The
thing is I don't want my dad sitting in his hotel room at night while I go out and raise hell in Pattaya. My dad is not a drinker nor is he a horndog. I don't think he would be into the loud music, neon lights or wild women that Pattaya is famous for. I am seeking any suggestions for a more mellow, relaxing, safe, yet still has a variety of hotels, resturants and activities for both of us to do.

Thanks
D.
